Back to writing...
Tungsten Coil has returned their focus to writing/creating new music, something previously interupted with other committments, however, now without distraction, the music is again their top priority and a process much enjoyed...looking forward to sharing the results with all of you.

Thunder of the Gods: Cowardly Bailout - May 9, 2009

Thanks to all of the bands for trying to salvage this poorly planned and executed event. We hope to see you all on stage again soon. And to fans who made the drive to the campgrounds to support thm and to the production crew. Unfortunately the organizer, Will Pruett of Dayton, Ohio, was in over his head and cowardly, bailed.

Furthermore, our apologies to all bands and fans who made the drive Saturday and were disappointed to learn the final day of the event had been cancelled.

You can be certain that we will not work with him again.

Thank you for your support.

SXSW Aftermath & Recovery - March 22, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came out for the SXSW show at Elysium- we appreciate your support. After an extended break from the stage, it was nice to reconnect with our fans and to see some new faces in the crowd.

It is now time for us to turn our focus back to writing/developing new music that we look forward to sharing with each of you.

We hope to see everyone soon-

Austin Daze: Alpha Omega CD Review - February 10, 2009

Austin Daze recently (1/29/09) wrote/posted a review of Tungsten Coil's 2008 success Alpha Omega- Enjoy!

Tungsten Coil—Alpha Omega—Voted Best industrial band at 2008’s Austin Music Awards, Tungsten Coil provides a mix of modern electronic and industrial music mixed with the traditions of a rock band. When heard live, they put on a spectacular show that’s all rock n’ roll including components like lights, fog and visuals. They came up in the Austin scene fast and furious, booking a spot with SXSW just five months after their first show and won fourth place in 2007’s Austin Music Awards just three months after their debut. Songs, “Prey to Me” and “Time” get air play and lots of attention from those that follow this band. 4.5 McRiprock’s.

Hiatus Update! - November 29, 2008

This is your hiatus update for December, 2008.

No, hiatus doesn't mean broken up! I know many of you have been writing in with your concerns on whether we were disbanded or not.. and the answer is NO!
We have been actually very busy writing new music for a mid-2009 release, and it's really coming along well, with some exciting new music! We won't be releasing any just yet, BUT you can catch a snippet in our latest video blog!

Check it out here:
http://www.youtube.com/tungstencoilvideo

We filmed it at our new studio, where the first phase of our song-writing takes place. Here we lay our ideas out on the computer, approaching the songs from the electronic-side, first, before we have the band play it live. We have 5 new songs already in the works, with plans for them and other stuff in 2009 looking pretty exciting!

We will be sending out periodic blogs and such along the way, so please keep an eye out. We'd also love to hear back from all of you! Any e-mail sent in reply to this will be forwarded to each of us, so they will be read, and even responded-to.

Meanwhile, have a great holiday and we will touch base with all of you again around the turn of the year!

Peace,

- Dimitri, Eric, Greg, Shannon

TUNGSTEN COIL’S LAST AUSTIN SHOW OF 2008! - September 30, 2008

The Official Press Release:

Austin Music Awards winner, Tungsten Coil, has been making a solid name for itself among the Austin music scene and surrounding areas. Recent publicity includes the cover of INsite magazine, a successful CD Release party at Emo’s, two SXSW showcases, and consistent radio and TV exposure. What continuously draws crowds to their live shows? Perhaps it is the deep, sexy voice of lead singer Eric Oberto exposing life's dirty pleasures and emotional trials. Or is it Dimitri Hammond producing dark and captivating synth sounds with unique use of the theremin and keytar? Or maybe it's the intense driving grooves of drummer Greg Scott, metal chops of guitarist Chris Peters, and catchy riffs of bassist Shannon Deane? It is difficult to choose just one element of Tungsten Coil that keeps fans coming back for more and keeps the band on the many local lists of "bands to keep your eye on," but it all comes to the fact that they are a must-see.

Taking advantage of their momentum and previous success in the creative process, the band is going to retreat to the studio to write and develop a new album and stage show. This hiatus from performance will last until mid 2009 when they return to the scene with a spectacular event that is already in the works. During this performance hiatus they will also be seeking a new guitarist to creatively join them as Chris Peters moves on to pursue other projects.

Tungsten Coil's last Austin appearance will be Thursday night, October 9th, at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St, Austin, TX. They will be bringing forward their best performance, light show, fans, and even a couple of the new songs. This will also be Chris's last Austin show with Tungsten Coil, which will be a calling for many of the band's fans to come and catch them one more time before the band’s face changes forever.

Tungsten Coil will be sharing the stage that evening with another quickly-rising Austin power-rock group, Ember and Florida's highly-acclaimed Boyce Avenue.

Tickets for the show are $10 and are available through FrontGate tickets. All ages are welcome to the event.

TCoil welcomes new bassist! - July 16, 2008

Tungsten Coil welcomes Shannon Deane into the family!

Just when we thought our hopes of finding the right bass player were shattered, Shannon walked up, plugged in, and blew us away!

Her tight playing, quick learning, great attitude, and genuine excitement towards the music impressed all of us!

Her resume is also very impressive: She's played music featured on some TV spots when she was with other Austin Music Award winners, Lucid Dementia; she's played with well-known Austin band PAIL; she also toured the country twice with the Flametrick Subs (and Satan's Cheerleaders). Her vocal likeness can be heard on numerous radio commercials throughout Austin, and she also teaches guitar and bass lessons all around the area, as well!

Please make it to our August 2nd show at Merkaba Lounge & Grill in north Austin to show her a proper Tungsten Coil welcome!!

An exciting new era for the TCoil machine is now beginning! Be sure to catch the wave!

- TC

Bass player and TV! - June 16, 2008

Hey everyone!

First I wanted to direct you to our latest Fox 7 TV appearance,
here!

We performed the song "Nothing" which has been, until now, previously unrecorded.

Also, as many of you may know, Tungsten Coil is currently looking for a new bass player! While Tom has a great time with this band, and we certainly love having him, he's been putting off some personal plans for some time now. Though he's been gracious enough to help us get through a crazy, busy time, it is now time to set him free.

So if you play bass and think you have what it takes to dive into the TCoil machine with us, or if you know someone that might be a good fit, then contact us ASAP here or by phone: 512.656.4336

Keep the music alive!!

THANK YOU for helping the show go on... - June 9, 2008

Hey everyone!

Saturday night was our first show since the theft. We played a great show at the new Rock City Icehouse on 90% borrowed gear. The crowd was awesome, and it was so great seeing new faces among the old!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the following people for making the show possible:
  • Jason Schreiber (bass guitar)
  • Cindy Adzuki (theremin)
  • Ian Varley of Austin Music Foundation (keytar)
  • Michael of Thunderosa (bass rig)
  • Brad of South Austin Sound (gear for rehearsals)
  • Adrian of Guitar Center (bass guitar for rehearsals)
  • Amy Albright (guitar)
  • Jared of Ember (guitar head)

...along with the swell of others who have been working diligently to help us track down our stolen gear.

This is truly a sign that the music community in Austin is still alive and strong, and that there are tons of great people and musicians out there!

We will be doing a special segment with FOX-7 news on Monday morning, June 16th building awareness about the theft and ways to keep safe. We will also perform the new song Nothing, so be sure to tune in!

    Thank you!

    - Dimitri

  • Stolen gear update... - May 21, 2008

    Hey everyone!

First of all I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all that helped with our little "secret mission" over the weekend...we covered a TON of ground between all of you!!

I've been talking to the police a lot lately and the webpage I put up has helped quite a bit:
    http://full.tungstencoil.com/gear/

The update, so far, is that they have a possible lead that they are following up on, which is finally a bit of good news.

I will be sure to keep you all informed and up to date as I find out more.

Thank you, again! With all of your help we just may catch these creeps! I found out that Pawn Shops are required to have a 20-day hold on all new gear that they acquire, so scouring those may not help too much just yet. Just keep on your own assigned "secret mission" and keep spreading that webpage around in case someone recognizes those people!

    You all rock,
    - Dimitri

CD Release a success! Photos and vid... - May 11, 2008

90 degrees at 100% humidity and a broken AC aren't the best of conditions for a rock show, but everyone rocked out and had a blast, nonetheless!

    INsite Magazine cover!! - May 8, 2008

    Here it is!

    The story:

Houston: We came, we rocked, and so did you! - May 4, 2008

Hey Houston! Thanks for the party!

I'll have to be honest, though: the minute we pulled up to The 19th Hole we were struck with a little bit of shock and apprehension: a modest little sign above some blacked-out windows in the middle of a strip mall wasn't very reassuring. But once we stepped inside our faith was restored, and as soon as we saw the stage and sound system we immediately know this night was going to Rock!

Robert and John really delivered a great sound mix for us on stage and from what I heard from the crowd, it was a great mix for them as well.

Thank you so much to those that showed up and partied with us!

Thanks to Arride for warming up the crowd for us, and Lonestar Pornstar for inviting us and also finishing the crowd!

Make sure to catch our next show in Houston: June 21st @ Gary's Spot!

    Peace!
    - Dimitri
